Zach Leonhardi was one of 40 Southern All Star Series entries registered in for action at Talladega Short Track (Eastoboga, Ala.) on Saturday night for the third annual Governor’s Cup. Following the sixth fastest time in his qualifying group, Leonhardi grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race, which positioned him 16th on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Coming one spot shy of a Top-10 finish, Zach marched forward five positions to register an 11th place finish.

On Saturday afternoon Zach Leonhardi visited Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the Schaeffer’s Iron-Man Series-sanctioned Iron-Man Classic. In a field of 14 cars, Leonhardi laid down the second fastest time in his group behind Cory Hedgecock, which positioned him fourth on the starting grid for the main event.
